((Pardon the double post...)))
Celcticpaw listened to the forest carefully as she made her way towards camp, her catch clamped firmly in her jaws. She was trying to locate more prey, but she wasn't hearing much. What she did here, she accidentally scared away before even getting the chance to sneak up on it.
The only prey that seemed to be left was the smart ones. She shrugged and told herself that she had caught enough and began to wonder if Acestar would be pleased with her for catching food for the Clan. She shouldered her way through the camp entrance and sought out the leader before placing her kill on the pile, wanting to be praised. When she didn't find him right away, however, she quickly lost interest and placed her three voles and three mice on the fresh kill pile and trotted away to sit near the apprentices' den

The leader started to lick at his chest when Darktear approached him. He gazed at her silently, listening to what she said, but not stopping with his grooming. He hadn't eaten yet today, he had been to busy distributing food to others, so some food would be much appreciated. But he didn't touch her offering. He let it lay there as he continued to wash himself, licking a paw then swiping his face. He nipped at an itch at the base of his tail, then resumed his face-washing. All the while he just stared at her, silent, with an unreadable gaze and less so of body posture. He was hard to interpret, even if he told you exactly how he felt. There was just no telling his emotions. He intended it that way.
Finally, after a little more than half an hour, he finished cleaning himself and spoke to her. Why are you still here? His voice wasn't harsh nor hinting, just curious. Most cats would have walked away, taking his silence as a rejection. Which was, indeed, what it was. He was wondering what made her so special that she had to stay. She didn't like him did she? Hmm...another female looking for kits perhaps? An amused purr escaped his jaws as he mulled over the thought.

Darktear loped into the camp lazily, two plump mice and a squirrel hanging from her jaws. She was forced to go into part RainClan's territory, seeing as she got hardly anything but small burns and mucky fur in their own territory because of the muck fires. She stopped by the small fresh-kill pile, dropped the three kills onto the pile and she looked up, immediately spotting Acestar grooming. She hesitated, wondering if he had already eaten or not. She glanced at the fresh-kill pile hungrily, deciding that if Acestar didn't want her offering she would have it instead.
Picking up one of the mice by the teeth, Darktear made her way to Acestar, nodding to Shadowmask as she passed him. "Good morning, Acestar." She greeted, putting the mouse between them, a small purr escaping. It wasn't because she was attracted to him, but because she admired him, "I was wondering if you were hungry, so I brought you this." The she-cat hoped he would accept it, even if she was hungry herself. But she didn’t mind putting the clan first, especially if it was her leader.
Darktear looked at Acestar, wondering if she could tell what he was thinking by any body movements. She would wait until he finished grooming for an answer, even if it meant waiting for a few minutes. She was stubborn, and she hoped he knew that by now.
Celticpaw's hunt « Result #9 on Apr 1, 2008, 10:18pm »
Celticpaw crouched close to the ground, completely still and trying to utilize what little cover the charred surroundings offered. She was once thankful for her dappled pelt because the black blended with the burnt plants and the orange and white simulated sunlight filtering through the branches above. She sniffed about carefully, trying to catch any trace of prey. And then the fresh scent of mouse hit her.
She smiled and focused on her training. Prey was hard to come by and she couldn't risk letting the mouse get away. She crept forward slowly, trying to be quiet and light on her paws. Finally, the little brown creature came into sight and she took a silent breath. She crept forward slowly and waggled her rump when she got close enough. Strong hind legs propelled her forward and she felt a wave of satisfaction wash over her as she felt the wriggling beast beneath her paws. A swift nip to the back of its neck quickly killed the mouse and Celticpaw looked down at it with a smile. She half buried it to come back for it later and continued searching for food.
Her search brought her over into MeadowClan territory where she forced herself to be even more alert. She caught three voles and a couple more mice before quickly gathering her catch and turning back to go towards the lone mouse she'd caught on SootClan turf. With her catch of three voles and three mice hanging from her jaws she began trotting happily back towards camp. Needless to say, she was fairly pleased with her catch even though she had to steal most of it from MeadowClan. What they didn't know wouldn't hurt them, right?
